Verified against official EU sources - 26 August 2026What GARAN means
The EU GARAN label represents a commercial guarantee of durability offered by a producer. A qualifying guarantee is offered at no additional cost, covers the entire good and lasts more than two years.
The guarantee represents a commitment that the good will maintain its required functions and performance through normal use for the stated period. Otherwise, the producer must repair or replace the good at no cost under the durability guarantee.

EU GARAN Label Eligibility Checker FAQ
Does every warranty longer than two years require GARAN?
No. Duration is only one condition. GARAN concerns a qualifying commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer, and the other conditions must also be satisfied.
Can a guarantee covering only one component use GARAN?
The qualifying durability guarantee for GARAN must cover the entire good. A guarantee limited to a component should not be presented as the GARAN durability guarantee for the whole good.
What can be changed on the GARAN label?
The Implementing Regulation provides editable fields for the guarantee duration, producer brand/trademark information and model identifier. The fixed label elements must not be edited.
Can GARAN be displayed online?
Yes. For online use the label must be in colour. Official EU materials also provide a nested-display format for e-commerce.
Does a positive result certify compliance?
No. The result is an automated readiness assessment based on your answers. Product facts, guarantee terms, Member State implementation and the actual consumer journey may require additional review.
