From 27 September 2026, the GARAN label is relevant to a qualifying producer commercial guarantee of durability offered at no additional cost, covering the entire good and lasting more than two years.

Does a three-year warranty automatically qualify for GARAN?

No. Duration alone is not enough. The guarantee must be a qualifying producer commercial guarantee of durability and the other legal conditions must also be met.

What can be edited on the GARAN label?

The Implementing Regulation allows the guarantee duration, producer brand or trademark information, and model identifier to be completed. The other fixed label elements cannot be edited.

How large must a printed GARAN label be?

For contracts other than distance contracts concluded through an online interface, the minimum GARAN label size is 95 by 100 millimetres.

GARAN is not just a long warranty

The duration test is only one condition. The checker separately evaluates the nature of the producer durability guarantee, cost, coverage of the entire good, duration, and the information trigger relevant to traders.

What GARAN means

The EU GARAN label represents a commercial guarantee of durability offered by a producer. A qualifying guarantee is offered at no additional cost, covers the entire good and lasts more than two years.

The guarantee represents a commitment that the good will maintain its required functions and performance through normal use for the stated period. Otherwise, the producer must repair or replace the good at no cost under the durability guarantee.

Producer qualification and trader display are separated

A guarantee can satisfy the GARAN characteristics while the trader-information trigger still requires separate review. The checker therefore does not collapse these questions into one yes/no result.

No. The result is an automated readiness assessment based on your answers. Product facts, guarantee terms, Member State implementation and the actual consumer journey may require additional review.
