Count these dates
Days off each week

Saturday and Sunday are selected by default. Change this for your schedule.

Enter dates as YYYY-MM-DD, separated by commas, spaces or new lines. No holiday calendar is loaded automatically.

Quick formula

Working days = calendar dates in the selected range − selected weekly days off − valid excluded dates. The default workweek is Monday through Friday. Each excluded date counts at most once.

Both selected dates are counted by default if they are workdays. Clear either boundary checkbox to exclude that date. If dates are reversed, the calculator reorders them and keeps each checkbox with its selected date.

Worked examples

From Monday, August 3, 2026 through Friday, August 14, 2026, the default gives 10 working days. Enter Wednesday, August 5 (2026-08-05) as an excluded date and the result becomes 9. Excluding the start date as well makes it 8.

From Friday through the following Monday, the default gives 2 working days: Friday and Monday. Exclude the Friday boundary and it becomes 1. A Saturday-to-Sunday range gives 0 with the default weekly days off.

Working days vs. calendar days

Calendar days include every date in the range. Working days usually mean Monday through Friday, so Saturdays and Sundays are removed. Business days often means the same thing, but a contract, employer, school, or government process may use its own definition.

For a phrase such as “within 2 working days,” check the governing rule before counting. Many deadlines exclude the event date and begin with the next eligible working day, but that convention is not universal.

How public holidays affect the result

Public holidays differ by country, state, province, and sometimes city. This calculator does not load a country or regional holiday calendar. Enter the dates that apply to your location or policy; otherwise those dates remain in the count.

For payroll, delivery promises, project schedules, or formal deadlines, verify the governing holiday list. Duplicate dates and dates on selected weekly days off do not reduce the count twice.

How to count working days in a month

Select the first and last date of the month. Leave both boundary boxes selected for an inclusive count, enter applicable holiday dates, and adjust weekly days off if your schedule differs.

Method and limits

The calculation uses UTC calendar dates to avoid daylight-saving shifts. It validates real dates, handles reversed ranges, custom weekends, duplicate exclusions, and exclusions outside the selected range. Results are estimates: legal, contractual, payroll, delivery, and government deadlines may define the first counted day and holiday calendar differently.

Frequently asked questions

Are both dates included?

Yes by default when each date is a workday under your selected weekly pattern. You can exclude either boundary.

What happens if the dates are reversed?

The calculator uses the earlier date first and keeps each boundary choice with its selected date.

Are Saturdays and Sundays included?

They are excluded by default. Change the weekly days off if your schedule is different.

Are public holidays excluded?

Not automatically. Enter applicable excluded dates in YYYY-MM-DD format; each eligible date is subtracted once.
